Mobile-Friendly Algorithm Boost Rolls Out16th May 2016

Google announced back in March that it would be rolling out the second version of the mobile algorithm update in May, and this was completed on the 12th of the month. They announced it in a Twitter post that morning. The mobile-friendly algorithm works as a page-by-page signal, which is why it has taken a little while for the changes to roll out. It is also worth bearing in mind that due to this, it will take the search engine some time to crawl and index each page of your site. You won’t necessarily see instantaneous results.

This new update will work to increase the effect of the mobile-friendly ranking signal, giving the relevant results a boost. If your website is already classed as being mobile friendly, Google has said that there is no need to worry – the changes will not have any kind of negative impact on your pages and you don’t need to take any further steps. It might even have a positive impact on your site’s traffic.

If you haven’t yet taken steps to make your website mobile friendly, now might be the time to consider it. This latest update follows on from the original mobile-friendly algorithm launched in April 2015, which was known as Mobilegeddon. Websites experienced a significant impact from it. With this latest algorithm boost, it’s clear that mobile-friendliness is becoming increasingly important.
